Like a paintbrush sweeping across canvas, automobiles have long captured the human imagination, being both brush and canvas - exerting force and motion on the road, yet also the product of creative vision about aesthetics and utility.
Our relationships with these machines are complex, emotional, aspirational, representing a canvas for signaling status, pushing innovation, experiencing escape and adventure. They channel aspirations about where we want to go, literally and figuratively. For some, cars ease daily tedium; for others, they are outlets for to test the limits of intelligence, grit, and vision.
This series seeks to explore the automobile as artistic medium and muse. Though they bely their designers' ability to sculpt out the marriage of form and function, like all art, their ultimate meaning lies in the eye of the beholder.
